IWS-70DT Hex / B / Point — application and selection
A bench-mounted manual crimper with selectable tool and die configurations. The hex version is intended for compatible tubular cable lugs; B and point versions are separate profile choices.
A fixed workbench provides a repeatable working position and supports cable preparation without an air supply or mains connection. Allow enough space for the lever stroke and the cable bend radius. Manual operation still requires controlled setup and inspection.
Specifications and configuration
| Listed family range | 6–70 mm²; check the selected die and terminal |
|---|---|
| Hex profile | Tubular lugs with a specified hex crimp process |
| B profile | Compatible open-barrel terminals |
| Point profile | Compatible indent-crimp tubular lugs |
| Package choices | Complete tool configurations and replacement dies |
Before ordering: A die-only option does not include the bench tool. For aluminum applications, obtain confirmation of the exact lug, conductor and approved preparation/crimp process; material alone does not establish compatibility.
Choose the right configuration
Choose the exact model in the purchase selector. Product photographs may show different configurations; only the selected package is supplied.
Workstation setup and first-piece checks
- Fasten the tool to a suitable stable bench and check the mechanism before use.
- Match conductor, lug and crimp profile; strip to the terminal maker's specified length without damaging strands.
- Position the lug and conductor as instructed; keep hands clear of the closing tooling and complete the prescribed stroke.
- Inspect the result and perform the terminal maker's specified dimensional or pull-force checks before continuing the batch.
Use the current model-specific instructions. The guide above is a selection and workflow overview, not a substitute for the operating manual.
Maintenance and repeatability
Keep working surfaces clean and inspect tooling for wear, chips, misalignment or loose fasteners. Follow the model-specific lubrication and service instructions. Recheck the first piece after a die change, adjustment or maintenance; stop using damaged tooling. Keep a job record of the terminal, conductor, die and inspection results.
Frequently asked questions
Does the maximum wire size apply to every terminal?
No. Usable capacity depends on conductor construction, terminal material and barrel dimensions, the selected die and the required crimp geometry. Match the complete combination.
How do I check crimp quality?
Use the terminal manufacturer's acceptance criteria. These may include visual checks, crimp height or other dimensions, and pull-force testing. A completed tool cycle alone does not prove electrical performance.
Which option should I buy?
A die-only option does not include the bench tool. For aluminum applications, obtain confirmation of the exact lug, conductor and approved preparation/crimp process; material alone does not establish compatibility.
What information should I send for a compatibility check?
Provide the machine model and selected option, terminal part number or drawing, conductor material and cross-section, insulation diameter, and intended workload. For powered models, include your air or electrical supply.

Check the exact model, connection type and applicable standard before ordering. A standard referenced in a product description is not, by itself, evidence of third-party certification. Ask us for model-specific documentation if your project requires it.

How manufacturing supports reliability
IWISS manufacturing capabilities include precision machining, heat treatment, assembly and quality inspection, with dimensional measurement and tensile-testing equipment. The inspection method and acceptance criteria depend on the tool and connection application.

Battery cable and lug matching
Select the cable, lug barrel and crimping die as a matched combination.
Before ordering
- Check conductor gauge and construction alongside lug material and barrel dimensions.
- Follow the connector's specified die, crimp positions and inspection procedure.
Are 4 AWG and 4/0 AWG the same?
No. 4/0 AWG is larger than 4 AWG. Read the exact size marking and do not treat slash-zero sizes as ordinary single-digit gauges.
What should I send for a fit check?
Send the product model, cable or pipe size, connector or fitting part number, and clear photos. Include the intended application so our team can help you identify the appropriate setup.
