Design standards & application compatibility

Check the exact model, connection type and applicable standard before ordering. A standard referenced in a product description is not, by itself, evidence of third-party certification. Ask us for model-specific documentation if your project requires it.

Design references are not third-party product certifications. Use the model specifications and the fitting or terminal manufacturer's instructions to confirm compatibility.

How manufacturing supports reliability

IWISS manufacturing capabilities include precision machining, heat treatment, assembly and quality inspection, with dimensional measurement and tensile-testing equipment. The inspection method and acceptance criteria depend on the tool and connection application.

Ask us about the specifications or supporting documentation for your model.

Manufacturing & innovation

PEX expansion system selection

Match the tubing, expansion ring, fitting and head size.

Before ordering

Confirm the tubing and fitting are specified for the chosen expansion system.
Follow the manufacturer's expansion sequence, head rotation and recovery-time instructions.

Can expansion heads be interchanged by size alone?

No. Confirm the tool connection and expansion system as well as the marked size.

What should I send for a fit check?

Send the product model, cable or pipe size, connector or fitting part number, and clear photos. Include the intended application so our team can help you identify the appropriate setup.

The right crimp starts with the right contact

Find the right tool for your terminal, then follow the assembly guide. Compare solid-contact, stamped-terminal and Weather Pack tooling below.

Choose your kit

KIT-DC01 — broader tool selection

The DC01 kit includes IWD-12, IWD-16 and IWD-20 solid-contact crimpers, IWC-1424A open-barrel and IWC-1424B Weather Pack / Metri-Pack crimpers, plus wedgelock and contact-removal tools. Refer to the kit image for the complete layout.

KIT-DC02 — different configuration

Choose DC02 by its pictured tool configuration. For a fit check, email your terminal part number and wire gauge; the DC01 specification table below applies only to DC01.

Match the tool

Contact size ≠ wire gauge. Check both before choosing your tool.

Contact or task	Tool in KIT-DC01	Check before use
Solid pins and sockets	IWD-12 / IWD-16 / IWD-20	Match contact size 12 / 16 / 20 respectively, plus the supported wire range. Connector family alone is insufficient.
Stamped, open-barrel terminals	IWC-1424A	Match terminal geometry, wire size and the required conductor / insulation crimp.
Weather Pack / Metri-Pack 150 & 280	IWC-1424B	Confirm terminal and seal dimensions and the correct crimp station.
Wedgelock and contact removal	ET-01 and matching extraction tools	Identify the housing, release method and contact size. Do not force a mismatched tool.

Solid contacts and stamped contacts are different

A solid contact uses a closed crimp barrel. A stamped terminal has formed wings that fold over the conductor and insulation or seal. Select the matching crimper before preparing the wire.

KIT-DC01: solid-contact selection guide

These are tool-specific wire sizes, not the full wire range of every connector family. Match the exact contact part number, conductor size and current tool instructions. This table does not describe KIT-DC02.

Crimper	Contact size	Supported wire (AWG)	Typical solid-contact family
IWD-12	12	12	DTP
IWD-16	16	14 / 16 / 18	DT
IWD-20	20	20 / 22	DTM

Use IWC-1424A for the appropriate stamped contacts; the solid-contact table above does not apply to stamped terminals. For Weather Pack / Metri-Pack, match the terminal, seal and crimp station to IWC-1424B.

What makes the setup repeatable?

The IWD solid-contact tools use four-sided indent crimping, a locator for contact placement and a ratchet mechanism. Correct positioning and a completed crimp cycle support a consistent workflow; they do not replace inspection of the finished connection.

Is this the right kit for your work?

For repair and custom harness work, the kit brings crimping and contact-removal tools together. If your drawing, customer or quality procedure specifies an approved tool, calibration record or measured pull-test acceptance, confirm those requirements before purchase.

Before completing your harness

Identify — Confirm the terminal part number, solid or stamped barrel, wire gauge and insulation/seal requirements.
Prepare — Follow the terminal maker’s strip-length instructions. Avoid nicked strands and check that all strands enter the barrel.
Position and crimp — Use the matching tool and contact position. Complete the tool’s operating cycle according to its instructions.
Inspect — Check conductor position, crimp formation and housing retention. Perform any pull tests specified for your application; a hand tug is not a measured pull test.

FAQ

Does contact size 16 mean 16 AWG?

No. Contact size describes the contact system; AWG describes wire size. Match both the contact and its permitted conductor range to the tool.

Can I use the same crimper for solid and stamped contacts?

Do not treat them as interchangeable. Use the specified solid-contact crimper or the appropriate open-barrel crimper for the terminal.

Are KIT-DC01 and KIT-DC02 identical?

No. They are different configurations with different contents and prices. Check the selected variant and its image before adding it to your cart.

Does this kit guarantee a waterproof connection?

No. Environmental sealing depends on the compatible housing, contacts, seals, wire dimensions and correct assembly. The crimping tool alone does not establish a waterproof rating.

How should I check my first crimp?

Follow the terminal manufacturer's preparation and inspection requirements. Check conductor position, crimp formation and any specified retention or pull testing before completing the harness.

Unsure which tool fits your terminal?

Send your terminal part number, wire gauge and a clear photo to sales@iwiss.com for help choosing your kit.
