IWS-1632CF
One copper press kit. Two drive options.
The IWS-1632CF is a wrench-driven copper pipe press tool kit for 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ applications. It includes three jaw sizes, a tubing cutter and a socket wrench. Use the manual wrench or your compatible impact wrench after checking the fitting and tool instructions.

Plan for the space you actually have
The compact body lets you assess positioning around existing pipework before choosing manual or powered drive. Allow clearance for the head, socket and full wrench movement.
01 / Manual drive
Use the included socket wrench
A manual drive option for work where you want a setup without an external power source. Follow the tool's operating instructions throughout the press cycle.
02 / Powered drive
Use your compatible impact wrench
Use a compatible impact wrench as an alternative drive method. Verify socket fit, operating requirements and the prescribed stopping procedure in the tool instructions.
What comes in the kit
- IWS-1632CF copper press tool
- Interchangeable jaws: 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″
- Copper tubing cutter
- Socket wrench
An impact wrench is not part of this kit. Fittings and pipe shown in demonstrations are application examples.
Prepare for your installation
Have compatible pipe and fittings, the required pipe-preparation tools, and the equipment specified for inspection and system testing. If using powered drive, supply your own compatible impact wrench.

Check the connection before ordering
Designed for the listed 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ copper press-fitting application. Confirm your exact fitting series and tooling requirements; matching the nominal size alone is not sufficient.
| Check | Kit specification | Before you buy |
|---|---|---|
| Jaw sizes | 1/2″ · 3/4″ · 1″ | Match the fitting’s nominal size and required press profile. |
| Application | Copper press connections | Not a PEX crimp, clamp or expansion tool. |
| Fitting system | Listed for Viega ProPress fittings | Confirm the exact fitting series and manufacturer’s tooling requirements. |
| Drive method | Included socket wrench or compatible impact wrench | Check socket fit and operating instructions. Impact wrench not included. |
| Working clearance | Head + socket + drive tool | Check the complete operating envelope at your installation. |
Which pressing setup fits your work?
Compare the workflow you need rather than assuming one tool suits every job. Size coverage and compatibility vary by model.
| Setup | Why consider it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| IWS-1632CF wrench-driven kit | Repairs, remodels and a compact alternative using manual or compatible impact-wrench drive. | Fitting compatibility, socket access and the operating procedure. |
| Manual hydraulic press kit | An option when you prefer a hand-pumped hydraulic operating method. | Head geometry, pump-handle clearance and supported dies. |
| Dedicated battery press system | Consider for frequent repetitive work where an integrated powered workflow is important. | Complete system cost, batteries, jaw compatibility and servicing requirements. |
Copper press installation: preparation and checks
- Prepare the tube — Cut square, deburr and clean as required by the fitting manufacturer. A tubing cutter does not eliminate the need to deburr.
- Prepare the fitting — Inspect the fitting and sealing element. Measure and mark insertion depth according to the fitting instructions.
- Position and press — Fully insert the tube, align the correct jaw and follow the tool instructions for the complete press cycle and stopping procedure.
- Inspect and test — Check the finished connection and carry out the required system test. An indicator light is not proof of a leak-free joint.
Choose by fitting system, access and workload
For occasional repairs or as an additional setup, consider the kit’s manual drive and included tools. For repeated daily pressing, compare cycle time, approved tooling, servicing and total setup cost with a dedicated powered system.

Do I need to buy a dedicated battery press tool?
This kit uses the included socket wrench or a compatible impact wrench. It does not require a dedicated battery press-tool body. Choose the setup that fits your workload and required fitting system.
Is the impact wrench included?
No. The kit includes a socket wrench; an impact wrench is supplied separately by the user.
Does the LED prove the joint is leak-free?
No. Use the indicator only as directed in the tool instructions. It is not a leak detector and does not replace the required installation inspection or system test.
Will it work in every tight space?
No tool fits every installation. Check the press head, fitting position and access for the socket and drive tool. Email a photo if you need help assessing the setup.
Can I use it on PEX or refrigerant fittings?
Do not use it as a substitute for PEX tooling or assume refrigerant-system compatibility. Confirm the exact fitting application and approved tooling before use.

North American copper plumbing press
Match the inch-size fitting system and jaw. Copper water/hydronic press fittings are not refrigeration press fittings. CF tools use a compatible wrench drive; they are not self-contained electric press tools.
Optional accessories for this job
Choose the matching size and check your selected kit contents. Rings and clamps are optional refills. Buy preparation or removal tools only if you do not already have them.

Close-quarters copper tube cutter
Alternative cutter for restricted access. Range: 3/16–1-1/8 inch actual OD; not for larger tube.
