Application and technical information
- Open Barrel Terminal Crimper: IWC-1424A open barrel crimp tool is designed to crimp non-insulated, open barrel terminals, also known as OEM terminals. It has five crimp stations that roll the open barrel terminal tabs over the wire and insulation, crimping them to the terminal.
- Deutsch Stamped Contact Size 16 Crimp Tool: IWC-1424A is also designed for crimping Deutsch stamped pins and sockets, Size 16, AWG14 to AWG18. Series: DT, HD30, HDP20, DRC, HD10, DRB, DTV, AEC, STRIKE, Jiffy Splice.
- Two Step Crimping: Crimps conductor and insulation portion of contacts in separate cavities. Tool must be closed twice to complete termination.
- B Profile Crimps: Insulation crimps are "B" type and are produced in two cavities.: 18-14 AWG and 24-20 AWG. Conductor crimps are "B" type and are produced in three cavities: 16-14 AWG, 20-18 AWG and 24-22 AWG.
- IWC-1424A universal “U” Barrel Crimp Tool is perfect for 24 to 14 gauge wire used with AMP, Deutsch, Delphi or any other stamped terminal. A must when servicing any motorcycle. Made from high quality carbon steel with black oxide finish for corrosion resistance and durability.
Open Barrel Connector & Deutsch DT Size 16 Stamped Contact Crimper
Using the proper crimp tool for your type of contact ensures the highest performance. Stamped & formed contacts are designed for crimp installation, requiring no solder. They are more cost effective than solid barrel but do not sacrifice reliability of electrical circuits.
IWC-1424A open barrel crimp tool is designed to crimp non-insulated, open barrel terminals, also known as OEM terminals. It has five crimp stations that roll the open barrel terminal tabs over the wire and insulation, crimping them to the terminal.
- Crimps a wide variety of open barrel contacts in medium size wire ranges.
- Crimps conductor and insulation portion of contacts in separate cavities. Tool must be closed twice to complete termination.
- Crimps 24-12 gauge OEM type (open barrel) automotive terminals
- Five crimping stages
- "F" crimping nests make rollover crimps on both stranding (electrical crimp) and insulation (strain relief)
Match the terminal, not just the wire gauge
Check the terminal part number, barrel construction, conductor size, insulation support and required crimp geometry. Solid contacts, stamped contacts, ferrules and cable lugs use different tooling. Gauge alone does not establish compatibility.

Preparation and inspection
Identify the terminal and wire; strip to the specified length; position in the matching tooling; complete the operating cycle; inspect and test the first sample before continuing.
