IWS-0801DTS / IWS-1040DTS — application and selection

A bench-mounted manual hex crimper for workshop battery-cable preparation. The IWS-0801DTS configuration covers the listed 8–1 AWG sizes, while the separately selected IWS-1040DTS serves larger cables.

A fixed workbench provides a repeatable working position and supports cable preparation without an air supply or mains connection. Allow enough space for the lever stroke and the cable bend radius. Manual operation still requires controlled setup and inspection.

Specifications and configuration

Before ordering: Built-in tooling avoids loose die handling, but does not make all lugs of the same AWG interchangeable. Confirm terminal material, wall thickness and barrel geometry.

Workstation setup and first-piece checks

1. Fasten the tool to a suitable stable bench and check the mechanism before use.
2. Match conductor, lug and crimp profile; strip to the terminal maker's specified length without damaging strands.
3. Position the lug and conductor as instructed; keep hands clear of the closing tooling and complete the prescribed stroke.
4. Inspect the result and perform the terminal maker's specified dimensional or pull-force checks before continuing the batch.

Maintenance and repeatability

Keep working surfaces clean and inspect tooling for wear, chips, misalignment or loose fasteners. Follow the model-specific lubrication and service instructions. Recheck the first piece after a die change, adjustment or maintenance; stop using damaged tooling. Keep a job record of the terminal, conductor, die and inspection results.
