AMPSEAL 16 kit for equipment harness service
This 268-piece assortment lists 2-, 3-, 4-, 6-, 8- and 12-position housings and Size 16 solid contacts for 20โ16 AWG wire. Listed accessories include mounting clips, sealing plugs and an extraction tool. A crimper is separate. Piece count is not a count of completed harness connections.
Solid contacts in this kit; other AMPSEAL 16 contacts differ
The connector family supports more than one contact construction. This kit lists solid contacts, so consider IWD-1620 for the listed 20โ16 AWG solid-contact application, after checking the exact contact and setup. Do not select an HDSF stamped-contact crimper just because its listing also says AMPSEAL 16. Conversely, solid-contact tooling is not a default for HDSF terminals.
Choose for the installation
Suitable project contexts include compatible truck, construction-machine, agricultural and equipment harness repairs. Match the existing connector keying, number of circuits, conductor range and insulation diameter. Check operating current, temperature and sealing requirements against the exact component specification. A family-level IP or current rating does not automatically qualify this supplied kit or your finished harness.
Installation sequence
- Isolate the circuit and document the cavity assignments. Match cap/plug keying and verify seals and contacts before use.
- Prepare wire to the contact's strip-length specification and inspect for damaged strands.
- Crimp the supplied solid contacts with the matching indent tool and correct contact/wire setting. Qualify the first sample.
- Follow the AMPSEAL 16 housing instructions for the contact-lock/position-assurance service position, contact insertion and final locking. Do not apply a DT separate-wedgelock sequence to this housing.
- Fit specified cavity plugs, latch the mating pair and engage the connector assurance feature as directed. Use mounting clips and harness support to control strain.
- Check pinout, contact retention and the required electrical/mechanical performance before service.
Can I use the full 20โ14 AWG family range?
Not with every contact. This assortment lists 20โ16 AWG solid contacts; use the supplied contact range rather than the wider housing-family range.
