SN-58B: crimp compatible open-barrel contacts

A ratcheting hand crimper for the listed AWG 24–16 range. Choose by the metal contact and its crimp dimensions, not the connector housing name alone.

The tool’s full range does not apply to every included contact. Verify the contact’s wire range, conductor wings and insulation support separately.

Before assembling your connector

  1. Identify the contact part number, conductor gauge and insulation diameter.
  2. Match the die cavity to the contact’s required crimp geometry.
  3. Strip to the contact maker’s specified length and inspect a sample crimp before inserting it into the housing.
Will connector pitch tell me which tool to buy?

Pitch alone is not enough. Contacts in similar housings can need different crimp geometry. Send a contact part number or close-up photo if you need help.

Match the terminal, not just the wire gauge

Check the terminal part number, barrel construction, conductor size, insulation support and required crimp geometry. Solid contacts, stamped contacts, ferrules and cable lugs use different tooling. Gauge alone does not establish compatibility.

Preparation and inspection

Identify the terminal and wire; strip to the specified length; position in the matching tooling; complete the operating cycle; inspect and test the first sample before continuing.
